  • The Semoule: Maize Meal Packaging Design

Designing Maize Meal Packaging in 5 Steps A comprehensive guide from concept to ready-to-print artwork. JNK Trading Holding asked us to come up with a logo and packaging design for their maize meal brand, called “The Semoule,” aimed at export to Kinshasa, DRC. The process involved creating a unique logo and minimalist packaging featuring the logotype, an illustrated pattern of maize, and a photo of yellow corn. The product is printed in China and packaged in South Africa; the final product is available in 10 kg and 25 kg sizes. Our Five-Step Packaging Design Process: 1. The strategy and conceptual thinking 2. Maize Meal Moodboard Brands and Packaging 3. Developing and Designing a Maize Meal Packaging 4. Exporting ready-to-print Maize Meal Packaging artwork 5. Most print professionals prefer open-source file formats, including Adobe Illustrator and SVG. To accommodate their needs, it's essential to provide various options—some with bleed marks and others without—since the requirements may vary based on the printer's specifications. 5. Marketing materials for the Maize Meal Brand Outdoor: Design promotional billboard banners and pull-up banners for sales distributors. Social Media: We've developed social media banners to enhance brand recognition. Microsite: We’ve created a straightforward three-page website dedicated to promoting this brand individually. • Altajama Engineering Branding + Google Sites Theme Design

Bringing an Engineering Brand to Life—From Visual Identity to Branding Google Sites Website Launch When Altajama Engineering reached out, they needed a complete brand identity—from logo to Google site—and they needed it fast, functional, and future-ready. Based in Congo-Kinshasa, Altajama specializes in construction consulting, waste management, water treatment, and eco-conscious engineering solutions. Their mission? To provide innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions with a strong focus on safety, professionalism, and trust. Their vision? To lead engineering consulting in the DRC by embracing emerging technologies in agriculture, environmental sustainability, and logistics. So, how did we turn this mission and vision into a digital presence? Let me walk you through the 9 key steps of the project. Here is how we designed Altajama branding and Google Sites custom theme in 7 steps: 1. Goal 2. Brand Strategy 3. Design Systems 4. Google Sites Custom theme 5. Google Sites Web Pages 6. Google App Integration 7. Publishing a Google Sites Website 8. Google Sites SEO 9. Six Reasons to Use Google Sites 1. Goal Setting: Clarity First The first step was understanding exactly what Altajama needed: not just a logo or a pretty website, but a functional brand system  that communicates professionalism, innovation, and ecological values. This included setting up an intranet-like system within the site to share internal documents, engineering plans, and technical drawings. 2. Brand Strategy We started by identifying Altajama’s core values and target audience. This strategy phase was essential to make sure the visual identity, messaging, and website structure all aligned with their mission. We decided on a clean, minimal, and eco-conscious aesthetic that balances modern tech vibes with a grounded, reliable tone—perfect for an engineering firm positioning itself at the forefront of innovation in the DRC. 3. Design System (Built in Canva) Once the logo was finalized, we moved on to creating the design system. Using Canva, we developed both digital and print brand assets, then built out mockups for each web page. These mockups were shared with the client using collaborative Canva links, allowing for easy feedback and quick revisions before development. To ensure brand consistency, we created a full brand kit including logo variations, type hierarchy, and color palette. 4. Custom Google Sites Theme Now came the fun part: building the Google Sites theme. Here’s how we customized it: Color styles:  We created three main styles—titles, subheadings, and body text—all based on Altajama’s eco-friendly palette. Font:  We chose Ubuntu for its clean, professional look, set at 14px, centered alignment, and 0 line spacing for balance. Images:  We used a bold hero image to convey Altajama’s mission visually, included a branded logo background, and added a favicon for professional polish. Navigation:  The top header was styled in white, with page selections underlined in the brand’s primary red accent. UI Components:  From filled and outlined buttons to carousels and dividers, we ensured all components had strong contrast and accessibility. Layout & Spacing:  We went with a compact density and default site width to keep everything clean and user-friendly. 5. Google Sites Web Pages The site was structured to be simple, clear, and intuitive. We built the following pages: Home  – With a clear value proposition and bold visual statement. About  – Sharing Altajama’s story, team, and values. Services  – Detailing their core engineering offerings. Contact  – Featuring Google Forms for easy lead capture. Blog  – Ready for future thought leadership and updates. 6. Google App Integration To make the site even more dynamic and functional, we integrated a suite of Google tools: Google Maps Google Forms Google Sheets Google Docs & Slides (for internal documentation) Social Media links Google Business Profile This turned a simple website into a mini digital office. 7. Publishing the Site Once everything was ready, we connected the domain and made the site live. Visibility was set to “Public” so it’s accessible to anyone online. 8. Google Sites SEO We didn’t stop at launch. To help Altajama get discovered online, we set up: On-page SEO (titles, descriptions, alt text) Google Search Console Google Analytics for tracking visitors Off-page basics for ongoing link-building 9. Why Choose Google Sites? If you're wondering why we chose Google Sites for this project, here are 6 solid reasons: No hosting fees Strong built-in security User-friendly, no coding required Fully responsive (mobile-ready out of the box) Accessible design Easy self-management by the client For small businesses and startups—especially in emerging markets—Google Sites offers an ideal blend of simplicity, security, and scalability.
